Here is the list of ingredients needed for making fish fry.
1. Tilapia fish fillet – 10/12 medium size pieces
2. Ginger garlic paste – 1tbsp
3. Red chili powder – 1 tsp
4. Cumin powder – 1/2 tsp
5. Chaat Masala – 1 tsp
6. Salt – to taste
7. Lemon juice of half a lemon
8. Vinegar – 1 tbsp.
9. All-purpose flour – for coating fish pieces
10. Oil – for frying purpose
Step 1 – Wash the fish fillets with running water and put them in a sieve so the excess water drains out.
Step 2 – In a bowl mix all the above mentioned spices, ginger garlic paste, lemon juice and vinegar. Taste the mixture and adjust the salt and red chili powder according to your taste at this step.
Step 3 – Marinate the fish pieces in the mixture. Rub the pieces well in the spice mix, little water can be added to make the mixture smooth. Let the marinade sit for 15 minutes.
Step 4 – Heat oil in a pan preferably nonstick pan. Oil should be enough to shallow fry the fish pieces.
Step 5 – Coat each piece with all-purpose flour and place it in the pan. Fry for 5 minutes each side or till it’s crispy and well done. Slowly with a flat spoon turn the side of the fillet. Do it slowly or else the fillet will break. Add oil if needed for frying the other side.
Step 6 – The delicious fish fry is ready to be served.
Serve it with veggie salad or sliced onions.
This is the second style of making fish fry in Indian pakora (fritters) style.

Step 1 – Wash the fish fillets and keep them aside in a sieve so the excess water drains out.
Step 2 – In a bowl mix Besan, salt, red chili powder, cumin, ajwain, chaat Masala, tamarind pulp and egg. Mix them together to make a smooth batter. Add water slowly for making it smooth.
Step 3 – Add the fish pieces in the batter and mix them well. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
Step 4 – Heat oil in a wok, enough for deep frying the fish.
Step 5 – Slowly add the marinated fish pieces in the oil. Deep fry them on medium heat. Put them in batches of 4-5 pieces.
Step 6 – The tasty fried fish is ready to be served.
This fried fish is best served with green coriander chutney and tamarind chutney.
